Okay these are the rules and guidelines for this site.

Breaking any of these rules will get you a warning and/or banned so please pay attention to them!

General Guidelines:
This RP is set 20 years in the future after Voldemort has been vanquished and the war's been over for 5 years. Becuse of this there aren't going to be any canon students in this RP. You can be related to canon characters if you like but I really don't want a castle full of little Weasleys!
Applications for students with special powers or abilities will be considered but the admins have the power to tell you to change things if your character seems a little unbelievable.
To prove that you've read this through can you please put this phrase at the bottom of your application - I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay.

RULES:

1. Respect Other Players. Especially staff [without them, this site wouldn't function]. This means that you don't say anything rude against the actual player. You may attack the roleplayer's character. THIS RULE IS GOING TO BE ENFORCED STRICTLY.

2. No Controlling / god-moding
It’s annoying and it’s banned on most sites so just don’t do it! You are only in charge of your own character okay.

3. Mary-Sues
A Mary-Sue is basically perfect. She might have any or all of these characteristics: beautiful, innocent, generous, cute, selfless, loyal, playful, trustworthy, sweet, adorable, modest, happy and kind. She can sing beautifully and dance amazingly. All the guys are hopelessly in love with her, which she doesn't realise because she's so modest, and all the girls are dying to be her friend. She’s probably either a animagus or a veela and has a tragic past and skills in magic that are far beyond her years.
DO NOT MAKE YOUR CHARACTER A MARY-SUE!!! It can be tempting, especially if you're new to role-playing, or fanfiction. Most people will not role-play with a Mary-Sue. Every character needs some flaws. Make sure your character does too. Even if it's nice at first, they soon get sickening, and boring to play.
Some examples of Mary-Sues:
Belldandy, of the Japanese manga Oh My Goddess. (mangas tend to have Mary-Sue-ish heroines. Belldandy can do no wrong. She's beautiful, innocent, sweet, kind and good at everything.)
Gabriella, of the movie High School Musical.
Guys can be Mary-Sues too, so there’s no excuses. I won’t accept Mary Sues so please think hard about your character and try and make them realistic.

4. Killing Developments
Imagine this: Your role-play is lagging and you try to think up a scenario to keep it interesting. But someone else in the role-play completely kills the idea. Here's an example, with three players A B and C
A: Suddenly Hermione's eyes widened as she saw something behind the door of the abandoned common room. A movement in the shadows, a black figure creeping up, reaching out a hand
B: Harry saw Hermione’s shocked expression and turned quickly around wand extended.
C: Fred laughed heartily as he sprang out of the Common room "Boo!" he shouted.
A nice, interesting potential plot was just killed by player C.Adventures are great in role-plays and can go on for pages! If someone is suggesting an adventure, follow them if you can!! ^^

5. Sudden Leaving
If you've decided you're too busy to RP, or you're just bored, or for whatever reason you want to leave. Don't just disappear! The others in your role-play will probably wait for you, and if you never post you've killed the game. Also, your character is probably needed in the plot. What you should do is post saying you're sorry but you can't play anymore, and get your character out.

6. Gatecrashing
Sometimes, a group of people want to have a private RP. When this happens, they'll put the character's names in brackets in the title, eg.
Summer Fun ((Parvati and Neville)).
This means Parvati and Neville want to have a private RP. Don't jump in on them! It's rude and they'll ask you to go away. You can start your own private RPs, but check with the person you want to play with first.

7. Exclusion
A and B are having a conversation. C tries to play.
A: "Let's go and find Oliver Wood!"
B: "Okay, do you know where he is?"
C: "I think he might be at the Quidditch Pitch."
A: "B, we should look in the Common Room."
B: "Yeah, let's go."
C: "But I'm sure he's at the pitch."
A: "Oliver, there you are! We had no idea where you were!"
B: "It's great we've found you!"
C: "Oh look! A flying Pig!"
A: "Come on Oliver, we'll go have dinner"
You see, everyone is ignoring poor little C. It's usually more complicated than that, but it happens. It's good to acknowledge what others say, even if you don't agree with them, don't completely ignore them, let people play with you!

8 . Punctuation, spelling, grammar
Punctuation, spelling and grammar is VERY important. Nobody wants to RP with someone who writes a message like this:
ahrry sed he wnted 2 go 2 da gr8 hall
Remember the basic rules: a new speaker, a new line. Full stops, capital letters, speech marks. It's okay to make mistakes, just don't use cellphone language on purpose! If English is your second language, don't worry. People are usually nice about problems with grammar and things.

9. Swearing
I’ll accept it, within reason little swears like ‘Hell’ and ‘Bloody’ are okay but not the big stuff okay? Keep it PG-13.

10.
You're allowed to have as many characters as you want (within reason of course) but please create an account for each character. But, and this is where it gets hard to explain, you need to have one main account that you'll use to post in all the OOC area's and that'll be the name people know you by, for example I'm Joan and my main account is Joan Bryatt. But I also play another character Joan's daughter Angela and she has her own account a secondary account. Now in these secondary accounts can you please include your name from your main account just so people know it's you. Cause after a while it just gets too confusing keeping track of who's who especially for new members!
So your secondary account would look something like this
Angela Bryatt (Joan)
It's quite simple I'm just not very good at explaining things! If this bit isn't clear please tell me and I'll try again!

10b. On the subject of names can you please make your account in your characters name for example I don't want any members with names like harrypotterfan4life please.
